things I've been learning lately

i think a lot of times we ignore what God is teaching us in our day to day life. we search for answers in huge miracles & God given signs that are undeniable. truth is, life's not always like that. i'm sure you've figured that out by now, but just because Jesus isn't bringing people back from the dead right before our very eyes or feeding thousands with a couple loaves of bread, doesn't mean he's not still teaching us things. i believe he is teaching us big things, through all the little things we experience everyday. so here are just a couple of things that God has been stirring in my heart lately,

1.  words are absolutely free. the cost to say nice things to people is nothing. spend your words with purpose and intention, but also spend them kindly & endlessly. don't rob people of confidence and joy with the power of our words, spend them on gifts to people 24/7.

2. forgiveness. i don't want to live in a world where every time someone puts a dent in our heart we just shut them out & live a life bound in bitterness.

3. sometimes ya just gotta dance around your kitchen. life's crazy, but what are you going to do about? at the end of the day sometimes all you can do is laugh @ life and dance a little. if you haven't danced around you're kitchen lately, I 10/10 recommend.

4. accept grace. you're never going to reach perfect, so stop beating yourself up over it. give a 100% in everything that you do & work you're butt off doing it, but don't do it alone. Jesus's hand is stretched out so far to reach yours, don't leave him hanging. grab onto his hand & hold on tight- accept His grace.

5. it's okay to not be okay. you don't have to pretend that you have it all together all the time. if we were okay all the time we would never realize how much we really need Jesus. so be real, we have too many fakes in this world & if being real means taking the fake smile off our face, then so be it. sometimes we just have to be vulnerable, it's how we grow.

6. laugh at yourself, sometimes it's all you can do.

7. build relationships that nourish your soul. a good friendship is more than just having fun. invest in people that keep you accountable & bring out your good side. invest in people that you can sit down on your bedroom floor with until 2 in the morning & laugh about anything and everything under the sun. invest in people that your conversations are more than just gossip.

so i hope this could be somewhat of a help to you. i encourage you to dig deeper into situations, read between the lines- learn as much as you possibly can. Jesus is always teaching, don't be the kid sleeping in the back of the class.
